In Northwestern Illinois in 2002 I planted an Acer Igriseum/I that took well more than three or four years before it went from exactly what youre describing to a wonderful bright red and orange.One tip I can relay to all of you on the plant search at your local nurseriesWhen purchasing plants seedlings only should be considered - grafts will always come true to type ...they should be purchased during the peak of their fall colors, ...at the nursery. You might be looking for an Acer triflorum and come to see that most of the fall colored seedlings were yellow, but those few special ones had read and orange, tones.Good luck Missouri. 15 inches sounds a little closer -
